Already competing at a higher level?
To keep Tier 2 competition appropriate for developing athletes, some Premier Series athletes are not eligible to compete in Tier 2.
Athletes who are Premier Series qualified AND have a Power Score of 1,574 or higher are not eligible for Tier 2. Athletes who have qualified for the Premier Series Finals are not eligible to compete at any level of Tier 2 competition.
Moving into a new age division? Your Tier 2 eligibility resets when you age up, giving you an opportunity to adjust to competing as one of the younger athletes in your new division.
No. You don’t need to qualify to enter a regular-season Tier 2 competition.
Tier 2 gives athletes an opportunity to start or continue their competitive journey through local competitions, with opportunities to progress to larger championship events as the season continues.
Both tiers give athletes a competitive experience, but they’re designed for different points in an athlete’s journey.
Tier 2 is designed for athletes working their way into competitive ninja, with courses scaled appropriately for the Tier 2 level. Tier 1 provides a higher level of competition for athletes ready for a greater challenge.
Athletes may participate in both tiers throughout the season provided they meet eligibility rules. You must choose one Tier for combined events as outlined in the Rulebook.
Choose the environment that gives you the right challenge for where you are now. Your competitive path can grow as you do.
No. Tier 2 does not use Power Scores. Tier 2 season progress and standings are based on competition placements and Season Points instead.
Season Standings use an athlete’s highest 12 placements at Standard Qualifiers, and those standings can play a role in championship qualification, Regionals run order, and Worlds run order.
Athletes can earn their way to a Tier 2 Regional Championship through regular-season competition. Regional qualification is earned by placing in the top 3 at a Standard Qualifier (roll-down spots apply).
Athletes may qualify for Regionals in multiple regions.
Regional Championships give qualified Tier 2 athletes the opportunity to take on a championship-level experience, compete for Regional honors, and pursue qualification to the World Championships.
Tier 2 athletes have multiple opportunities to earn a place at the World Championships throughout the season.
Athletes can qualify through:
Regional Championships — Earn a qualifying placement at your home Regional Championship.
Season Standings — Finish the season among the qualifying athletes in your age and gender division within your home region.
All Star Competitions — Earn a qualifying placement at an All Star event.
Unlike Tier 1, Premier Series Finals is not Tier 2 Worlds qualification pathways.
