COMPETE

What to Expect at an All Star Competition

Whether competing in Tier 1 or Tier 2, the World Ninja League All Star Competitions feature two courses that are designed to challenge the best athletes and test speed, agility, grip, and balance:

  • Flow Course: Course designed to test your speed, agility, and accuracy. The goal of a flow course is to clear obstacles, from the starting platform to the buzzer, in as little time as possible.
  • Challenge Course: Longer, more technical course designed to put your grip, strategy, and endurance to the test. In a challenge course, you have one opportunity to retry up to two failed obstacles, allowing you an extra chance to conquer a challenge.

Run orders for All Star Competitions will be determined by total season points from each athlete’s best 12 competitions. The higher the points, the later in the run order.

While both Tier 1 and Tier 2 All Star Competitions follow the same format, the courses are scaled appropriately for the ability level of each division.

Together, the two courses illustrate what makes ninja unique and allow athletes to showcase every skill they’ve worked so hard on throughout the season.

SCORING

Clear and consistent scoring systems are used to recognize every athlete’s efforts and accomplishments, regardless of tier or division.

Scoring follows the Multi-Event Competition, Course Overall scoring rules:
  • Overall placement is determined by the sum of the placements on each of the two courses.
    • Example:
Athlete A places 1st in flow and 4rd in challenge. Total of placements = 5
Athlete B places 2nd in flow and 2nd in challenge. Total of placements = 4
Athlete C places 4th in flow and 3rd in challenge. Total of placement s= 7
Athlete B would take 1st place.
How ties are handled:
  • Ties are broken by identifying the athlete with the best individual placement out of both courses.
    • Example:
Athlete A places 1st in flow and 4th in challenge. Total of placements = 5
Athlete B places 2nd in flow and 3rd in challenge. Total of placements = 5
Athlete A takes 1st place overall because of the 1st place placement.
  • If a tie cannot be broken, the highest placement on the challenge course is used to break the tie.
