Regionals were created as a way to pull the best athletes from a larger area together on a regional level to compete for the coveted places at the Tier 1 Championships.
Regionals help prepare athletes for more competitive environments and larger competitions that they will experience, like the Tier 1 Championships, while providing athletes the opportunity to test their skills and abilities that they have learned over the course of the season.
Additionally, regionals help narrow the field for athletes competing at the Championships, by selecting the best athletes to compete. This event helps showcase athletes on a regional level before the Tier 1 Championships and provides them with ways to secure coveted advancements at Worlds.
Join a collective community experience with a fun and exciting atmosphere! Regionals pulls together athletes across a region to celebrate their accomplishments while community members cheer them on and celebrate them.
Athletes have the opportunity to qualify for the Tier 1 Championships, which serve as a great opportunity for athletes, and performance at Regionals helps secure athletes a better run order at the Tier 1 Championships.
Athletes have the chance to earn season points, improve their power score by taking advantage of double power score points. Also, Regionals help sort athletes into later run order positions and provides a pathway to more competitive events at the Tier 1 Championships.
Regionals serve as a culmination of an incredible season for athletes and help them prepare for larger competitions like the Championships.
Athletes who have qualified for regionals based on their performance over the season are eligible to compete at Tier 1 regionals. Athletes can compete in any region’s Regional in which they have qualified for.
Eligibility for Tier 1 Regionals
Athletes can qualify for the Tier 1Regional Championship through Standard Qualifying Competitions or Special Event Qualifiers.
Qualification Criteria:
Competition Limitations:
Passing Down Qualification Spots:
If a qualifying athlete has already earned a spot in Regionals, their spot is passed down to the next highest-placed athlete in the same age division and gender, provided they meet the qualifying criteria of the event format.
Multiple Regionals:
Athletes may qualify for and compete in multiple Regional Championships if they meet the eligibility requirements for each.
Regionals is more than just a standard qualifying competition. Regionals serve a gathering of community members in the form of athletes, coaches, course designers, vendors, friends, facility staff, ninja fans, family, friends, and more.
For many athletes, Regionals serve as the culmination of an awesome season of hard work and dedication. Here, athletes come together and celebrate an incredible season as they work to showcase their growth.
Additionally, Regionals provide a chance to earn a better run order once they have qualified for Tier 1 Championships. Athletes who are unable to attend the WNL Championships and athletes who are still developing their skill set have the opportunity to support their community and measure their season’s success at these significant events. These athletes can grow their competition experience and bench mark themselves against the regional championships flow and challenge courses.
This event is an awesome opportunity for athletes to come together, connect, practice their skills and showcase their incredible talent while also earning advancement opportunities for the Tier 1 Championships.
Athletes can qualify for the Tier 1 World Championship by finishing among the top competitors in their age and gender group within their region. The exact number of qualifying spots for each group is the greater of these two numbers:
If an athlete has already qualified through regular-season points, the next athlete in line will take their qualifying spot.
The qualifying spots are meant for athletes from the region where the championship is held. If athletes from a different region earn spots, additional spots are given to the next highest-ranked athletes from the host region.
Example:
If 40 athletes are supposed to qualify at the Northeast Regional Championship in the Kids Male division, but 2 athletes from the Midwest region place in the top 40, two more spots are added for Northeast athletes. This means 42 athletes qualify for Worlds:
