Registration, IDs, waivers and finding events
Use the Season XII schedule to explore upcoming Tier 1, Tier 2 and Head to Head competitions. Additional events may be added as facilities finalize and publish their competitions.
Yes. The Season XII schedule can continue to grow as facilities finalize and publish events.
Use the schedule as the current source for sanctioned competitions.
Registration for regular-season competitions is handled by the host facility. Find the event on the schedule, then use the registration information provided for that competition. Questions about availability, payment, refunds or facility-specific details should go directly to the host facility.
Rulebook reference: Event → RegistrationYes. Each athlete needs a NinjaWorks Athlete ID so registrations and competition results can be connected to the correct athlete profile. Returning athletes should use their existing ID rather than creating a duplicate.
Rulebook reference: Event → RegistrationNo. Membership is optional. It may include perks or discounts, but it is not required to compete.
Rulebook reference: Athletes, Coaches and Community → MembersYes. Athletes must complete the season waiver before competing. Use the athlete's legal first and last name and NinjaWorks Athlete ID. A host facility may also require its own waiver.
Rulebook reference: Athletes, Coaches and Community → WaiversChoosing a pathway and knowing where you compete
Premier Series is the highest and most competitive tier, with a shorter qualifier-to-Finals season. Tier 1 is a highly competitive extended-season pathway. Tier 2 is designed for athletes building competitive experience and working toward higher-level competition.
Rulebook reference: Athletes, Coaches and Community → TiersStandard Qualifiers are open to most athletes. An athlete is not eligible to compete in Tier 2 at a Standard Qualifier when they are both Premier Series qualified and have a current Power Score of 1,574 or higher.
Athletes who qualified for Premier Series Finals are not eligible to compete at any level of Tier 2. When an athlete enters a new age division, Tier 2 eligibility resets under the Season XII rules.
Rulebook reference: Qualifying and Results → Standard Qualifying CompetitionsAthletes may participate across tiers during the season if they meet the eligibility requirements. However, when Tier 1 and Tier 2 are offered as a combined competition, an athlete may compete in only one tier for that combined event. The Rulebook defines combined competitions as different tiers scheduled in close proximity, approximately seven days.
Rulebook reference: Athletes, Coaches and Community → TiersSeason XII divisions are based on the athlete's age on January 1, 2027.
Kids, Mature Kids and Preteen athletes may request to compete up one age division at Tier 1 and higher competitions. The move requires formal approval from the league and is not automatic.
Athletes who compete up an age division are not eligible for Tier 2 competitions. Requests should be sent to info@worldninjaleague.org.
Rulebook reference: Athletes, Coaches and Community → DivisionsElite is a Tier 1 division available to eligible athletes age 13 and older. Teen, Young Adult, Adult and Masters athletes participating in Tier 1 and higher competitions may choose their age-based division or Elite under the Season XII division rules.
Rulebook reference: Athletes, Coaches and Community → DivisionsSeason Points, regions, Regionals and Worlds
Athletes can earn Season Points when they place in the top 10 at eligible competitions and complete at least one obstacle. At a Standard Qualifier, 1st earns 10 points, 2nd earns 9, and the scale continues down to 1 point for 10th.
An athlete's best 12 point-earning competitions are totaled for their Season Points score.
Rulebook reference: Qualifying and Results → Season PointsThe best 12 point-earning competitions are used for the Season Points total. If an athlete has fewer than 12 eligible competitions, the points from the competitions they did complete are totaled.
Compete 5 times? All 5 can count. Compete 15 times? The best 12 count.
Rulebook reference: Qualifying and Results → Season PointsAn athlete's Home Region is defined by the region where their current residence is located.
Rulebook reference: Qualifying and Results → Season PointsYes. For standard Tier 1 and Tier 2 competition, Season Points earned across regions are combined toward the athlete's total. The athlete is then compared with athletes in the same age/gender division from their Home Region.
Athletes may also qualify for Regional Championships in multiple regions. Head to Head is different: H2H Season Points remain region-specific.
Rulebook reference: Qualifying and Results → Season Points; All Star & Regional Championship CompetitionFinish in the top 3 for your age division and gender at a Standard Qualifier and meet the minimum performance requirement.
If an athlete in a qualifying position has already qualified in that region, the spot moves to the next eligible athlete at that event.
Rulebook reference: Qualifying and Results → All Star & Regional Championship CompetitionYes. Athletes may qualify for and compete in multiple Regional Championships. At Standard Qualifiers, an athlete may qualify at one competition in each region.
Rulebook reference: Qualifying and Results → All Star & Regional Championship CompetitionSeason XII offers multiple World Championship qualification pathways. Depending on the athlete's tier and eligibility, pathways include Regional Championships, Season Standings, designated Special Event Qualifiers, Premier Series Finals and the Tier 1 All Star Competition.
Rulebook reference: Qualifying and Results → Championship CompetitionFor each age division and gender, the number of Worlds qualification spots at a Regional Championship is the greater of top 16 or 35% of the unique athletes who competed in that region, capped at 40 qualifying positions per age/gender division per region.
Athletes must complete at least one obstacle to be eligible to qualify.
Rulebook reference: Qualifying and Results → Championship CompetitionYes. At the Tier 1 All Star Competition, the top 4 athletes in each age division and gender qualify for the current season's Tier 1 World Championship. The Rulebook includes additional Home Region protections when out-of-region athletes take qualifying positions.
Rulebook reference: Qualifying and Results → Championship CompetitionYes. Athletes placing in the top 3 of their age division and gender at Premier Series Finals qualify for the following season's Tier 1 World Championship.
Rulebook reference: Qualifying and Results → Championship CompetitionRacing, standings and postseason qualification
Head to Head is a side-by-side racing format. Athletes race directly against another competitor and progress through a double-elimination bracket by going further and faster than their opponent.
Rulebook reference: Competition → Head to HeadNo. Unlike standard Tier 1 and Tier 2 Season Points, Head to Head points are region-specific. If an athlete competes in H2H events in multiple regions, those regional point totals are tracked separately.
Rulebook reference: Qualifying and Results → Season PointsFinish the standard qualifying window in the top 32 of your division in that region’s Head to Head standings.
If athletes are tied at the cutoff, the higher Head to Head Power Score receives the qualifying position.
Rulebook reference: Qualifying and Results → Head to Head Regional Championship CompetitionsQualify through a Head to Head Regional Championship. The allocation begins with 32 spots per age/gender division across all regions, distributed by each region’s share of participation.
Because fractional allocations round up, some divisions may finish with slightly more than 32 total qualifiers. If an athlete in a qualifying position is already qualified, the spot moves to the next eligible athlete.
Rulebook reference: Qualifying and Results → Head to Head World ChampionshipWhat athletes are being asked to do on the course
Go as far as you can before a failure or disqualification. Athletes earn one point for each obstacle cleared and receive a time to their last completed obstacle.
More obstacles ranks higher; when obstacle totals match, the faster time ranks higher.
Rulebook reference: Competition → Formats → CoursesKeep solving the course. Athletes must clear the current obstacle before advancing and are ranked by furthest progress in the least amount of time.
You may retry two obstacles per course, with only one retry on each failed obstacle. The retry must be cleared to continue.
Rulebook reference: Competition → Formats → CoursesTake on the whole course. Ranking rewards athletes who complete the most difficult obstacles the fastest.
Each obstacle contributes difficulty points, while the athlete’s relative speed on individual obstacles contributes to the placement total. Difficulty comes first; efficiency breaks the tie.
Rulebook reference: Competition → Formats → CoursesSkills competitions break competition into individual obstacle challenges rather than one traditional course. Athletes receive individual Skill rankings plus an overall Skills ranking. The rulebook recognizes Flow and Challenge Skill types with timed and repetition-based categories.
Rulebook reference: Competition → Formats → SkillsCertification, renewals and competition-floor access
Yes, to be on the competition floor. Only a Certified Coach may access the competition floor, aside from staff required to run the event.
Host facilities may limit the number of coaches per athlete. At the World Championship, the limit is one Certified Coach per athlete.
Rulebook reference: Competition → Certified CoachesCoaches must be at least 13 years old at the time of certification.
Rulebook reference: Athletes, Coaches and Community → Certified CoachesFloor Certification is the entry-level coaching certification. It includes background-check requirements, abuse-prevention training and basic knowledge of competition rules and policies.
Rulebook reference: Athletes, Coaches and Community → Certified CoachesCertified Coaches renew their certification, certification exam and abuse-prevention training yearly. Background checks renew on a separate schedule: every 4 years in the United States and every 10 years in other countries, under the Rulebook's schedule.
Rulebook reference: Athletes, Coaches and Community → Certified CoachesReviews, reruns, apparel and results questions
Yes, when the request meets the review requirements. For most competitions, it must be submitted through the official Video Review Request Form no later than 10 minutes after the end of the athlete’s wave.
For Head to Head, it must be submitted before the next match begins. Eligible submitters include an attending Certified Coach, the current course referee, or an Adult, Masters or Elite athlete disputing their own result.
Rulebook reference: Competition → Video ReviewIf an obstacle break or course malfunction directly affects an athlete, the Rulebook provides a rerun process. The referee must stop the affected run, and the rerun is scheduled later to provide fair rest. When a rerun is granted, the better of the two runs becomes the athlete's official scored run.
Because the circumstances matter, athletes and coaches should address a malfunction with the Event Coordinator at the competition.
Rulebook reference: Competition → Incident HandlingAthletes are required to wear closed-toed shoes, a shirt and appropriate bottoms. The host facility is responsible for determining whether an athlete meets the event dress code, subject to the published dress-code rules.
Rulebook reference: Athletes, Coaches and Community → Dress CodeIf you believe a published result, score or Season Points total is incorrect, contact Support with the athlete's full name, NinjaWorks ID, division, competition name/date and a description of what appears incorrect. A screenshot or link is helpful when available.
Competition-day referee calls must follow the applicable video-review process and deadlines; a later support request does not replace that process.
