The future of the sport is looking bright!
On March 28-30, over 600 athletes gathered at Centercourt in Lawrence, New Jersey for the Tier 2 Championships. These up-and-coming stars of the sport took on a Flow Course, Full Course, and two Skills. The highest-placing athletes overall were crowned as the World’s Strongest Ninjas…and our Tier 2 Champions! Read on to see who took the title in each division!
With 4 events over the course of the weekend, athletes were required to be consistent if they wanted a shot at becoming World’s Strongest Ninja. That was a reality for the two athletes who won every event: Kayla Breen (Adult Female) and Isaac Abbott (Masters Male). Both athletes swept the competition! Breen and Abbott were the only finishers on the Flow Course in their divisions, hitting buzzers to cement their status as World’s Strongest Ninja.
Many other divisions featured Champions who won more than one event. Jason Bank (Kids Male) won both the Flow and Full Course! Mischa Li (Mature Kids Female) took first in every event barring the Flow Skill! Lucas Pyne (Preteen Male) won the Flow Skill and Full Course, while Jacob Houde (Teen Male) won all events except the Challenge Skill, where he placed second!
Additional Champions who won multiple events include Jack Belbutsi (Young Adult Male), Emily Waters (Young Adult Female), and Alexandra Asirvadam (Masters Female). Waters most notably tied with the runner up, Erin Adams, off of overall points. However, Waters winning both the Full Course and Challenge Skill broke the tie to give her the win.
The other divisions weren’t so cut and dry. In some divisions, wins in different events were spread amongst as many as 3 different athletes. However, it was their consistency that granted these athletes the title of World’s Strongest Ninja. Such was the case with Jaxon Joachim (Preteen Male), who had one win in the Challenge Skill and never placed lower than 5th in everything else!
Additional athletes who showed remarkable talent across all events included Cate Mauer (Kids Female), Sophia Kovall (Preteen Female), Jillian Cooper (Teen Female), and Bryce Buckland (Adult Male). Kovall and Buckland each had a win under their belts, with Kovall winning the Challenge Skill and Buckland winning the Flow Skill. These 1st place finishes, alongside their other high-marking results, were enough to place them at the top of the podium!
