SEASON-LONG COURSE TEST FORMAT

MOTUS – LEE’S SUMMIT

MARCH 16 | APRIL 6

Introducing the Motus Season-Long Course Test Series

At World Ninja League, we’re always looking for ways to push the boundaries of ninja competition, and this season, we’re launching something brand new: the Season-Long Course Test Series. This format is designed to give athletes the best possible competition experience while making ninja events more sustainable for gyms.

Motus Ninjas – Lee’s Summit is set to host this innovative new competition format on March 16, 2025, and April 6, 2025, offering athletes a unique opportunity to refine their skills, develop strategy, and compete in a livestreamed event that will bring the ninja community together like never before.

What Is the Season-Long Course Test Series?

The concept is simple: instead of building a brand-new course for every competition, select gyms will create a single, adaptable course that will be used throughout the season. Athletes will get the opportunity to test their skills on the same course design, allowing for focused training, strategic improvement, and next-level competition readiness.

The primary goals of this format include:

  • Evaluating the effectiveness of season-long course structures
  • Creating a sustainable and repeatable competition structure
  • Providing athletes with opportunities for course mastery and strategic development

Why This Matters for Athletes?

One of the biggest challenges in ninja is preparing for competitions without knowing what obstacles you’ll face. With the Season-Long Course Test Series, athletes can train with a clear target in mind. This allows for:

More strategic training – Athletes can sharpen their skills on obstacles they’ll actually see in competition.

More meaningful progress tracking – With a consistent course, ninjas can measure their improvement over time.

A deeper level of competition strategy – Instead of relying on quick on-the-spot adjustments, athletes can develop and refine their approaches.

Why Should You Compete?

This format is designed to help athletes elevate their training and performance.

Here’s why you should sign up:

  • Multiple attempts on the same course at different events – Learn, adapt, and improve with each event.
  • 15-minute strategy sessions before each comp – Get hands-on time to develop a winning approach.
  • Be part of an innovative format – Help shape the future of ninja competitions.
  • Contribute to tier standings – Compete for valuable points in the overall rankings.
  • Easily prepare for the next competition –  Train with clear goals in mind based on performance at the previous competition.

How This Supports Gyms & Course Design

Creating a great ninja course takes time, resources, and expertise. With this new format, gyms can invest more into course design, knowing that the effort will be spread across multiple competitions. This means:

Higher-quality courses – More time and budget can go into designing and refining challenging, creative obstacles.

Sustainable competitions – Gyms can focus on making each event an incredible experience without constantly rebuilding from scratch.

A more focused athlete experience – With well-tested courses, athletes can focus on performance rather than adjusting to unexpected elements.

Course Design & Scoring Format

A key part of this series is the ability to adapt and evolve the course while maintaining its core challenges. Here’s how it works:

Event Format Selection & Evolution

🔹 Hosts must select and announce their format (Flow, Full, or Challenge) before the series begins.
🔹 This decision shapes the competitive experience, ensuring athletes can prepare accordingly.

Course Evolution Framework

Instead of rebuilding courses, hosts will make strategic refinements to keep the challenge fresh.

Course Adaptation Options:

🔹 Preserve & refine – Keep the layout but fine-tune dimensions, difficulty, and flow.
🔹 Reconfigure & refresh – Rearrange existing obstacles to create new challenges while maintaining familiarity.

Enhancement Guidelines:

  • Adjust heights, distances, and platform configurations.
  • Scale difficulty based on competitor progression.
  • Modify obstacles for better competitive flow.
  • Replace obstacles when necessary to better meet competition goals.
  • Implement refinements based on performance data and athlete feedback.
Communication & Preparation

To ensure fairness and transparency, all modifications will be clearly communicated through:

📢 Pre-event video documentation sent to competitors
📢 On-site rules briefing before each competition

Additionally, each event will include:

  • Mandatory rules orientation (in-person or via video)
  • 15-minute hands-on strategy sessions before competition begins
  • Coaching and athlete prep time to develop approaches
  • A technical adjustment period for returning competitors
