The World Ninja League’s Tier 2 Regionals mark the culmination of an incredible season for our athletes. These events bring together the best from each region for a weekend of camaraderie, competition, and celebration.
Tier 2 Regionals are a milestone event, spotlighting the accomplishments of athletes who have qualified throughout the season. These regional championships are designed to provide a competitive atmosphere, where athletes have the opportunity to showcase their skills and earn their spot at the prestigious Tier 2 Championships. It’s a high-energy gathering of talent, with athletes, coaches, vendors, and supporters coming together to push the limits of the sport and elevate the ninja community.
Regionals are about more than just competition—they’re a celebration. These events serve as a benchmark for athletes to measure their growth and prepare for larger-scale competitions. For many, it’s their first step into a higher level of competition, offering a chance to experience full courses and the regional championship flow. Athletes who are unable to attend the World Ninja League Championships and athletes who are still developing their skill set have the opportunity to support their community and measure their season’s success at these significant events.
Tier 2 Regionals represent the heart of the World Ninja League—bringing athletes together to compete, grow, and cheer each other on. Whether you’re vying for a Championship spot or soaking in the experience of a larger competition, these events showcase the dedication and passion that make our sport extraordinary.
Regionals is one of the biggest events in the Tier 2 season, and our format is meant to reflect that.
All Tier 2 Regionals will consist of two courses: a speed course following our Flow Course format and a longer course following our Full Course format. Athletes will receive points based on their placements on each course (1st Place=1 Point, 2nd Place=2 Points, etc.) and the best combined score will win the Course Overall title – and the Regional Championship.
At the end of each Regional, 16 athletes (or the top 35%, whichever number is bigger) will qualify for the Tier 2 Championships in each division!
The creation of Tier 2 Regionals stemmed from the need to bring athletes together on a regional scale, allowing them to compete against the best in their area. This event provides a stepping stone for athletes to prepare for more competitive environments like the Tier 2 Championships. It narrows the field by selecting top performers, ensuring the Championship roster represents the best of the best.
Regionals also foster the growth of the sport by giving athletes the chance to test their skills in new environments, gain experience in larger competitions, and showcase the dedication they’ve put in throughout the season.
Performance at regionals secure better run orders at the Tier 2 Championships for those who qualify, while others can use this event to test their skills, support their community, and celebrate a season of progress. Regionals are also a platform to highlight the collective spirit of the ninja community, as participants and supporters rally together to cheer each other on.
Athletes qualify for Tier 2 Regionals based on their performance throughout the season in Standard Qualifying Competitions or Special Event Qualifiers.
Qualification Criteria:
Multiple Regionals: Athletes may qualify for and compete in multiple Regional Championships if they meet the eligibility requirements for each competition.
Pass-Down Spots: If a qualifying athlete already earned a spot, their spot passes down to the next highest-placed athlete in the same division and gender who meets the qualifying criteria.
Competition Limitations:
Tier 2 Regionals use a “course overall” format, using combined scoring of performance on both courses to crown the best overall athletes. Each course awards athletes points based on their placement in the leaderboard, the sum of these points will create the course overall leaderboard.
Due to eligibility numbers, Adult and Masters athletes from the Midwest region will qualify to the Tier 2 Championships at the end of the season by being top 3 in points at the end of the season.
Due to eligibility numbers, athletes from the Rocky Mountain region will qualify to the Tier 2 Championships at the end of the season by being top 3 in points at the end of the season.
